Investing & Partnerships

I invest in businesses and help them become more profitable.

That is the simplest way I know to describe what I enjoy most. I like finding capable people with something real, identifying the leverage points that can materially improve the business, and structuring a relationship where we both win when the company performs.

Mike Walker reviewing an opportunity

More than capital.

Capital is useful, but capital without context can simply make a messy business bigger. My strongest contribution is usually the combination of strategic pattern recognition and operating experience: simplifying the offer, improving economics, tightening positioning, building systems, strengthening client experience, creating new revenue paths, and helping the founder see the business from a different altitude.

Strategic positioning and offer architecture
Systems and operational design
Client experience and retention
Monetization and recurring revenue
Go-to-market and funnel strategy
Partnerships and business development
Executive-level decision support
Public-sector strategy through BrightLink

I'm more interested in fundamentals than hype.

I'm not trying to chase every interesting idea. I'm looking for businesses and founders I can still imagine being excited about ten years from now.

A capable founder or subject-matter expert with real credibility
Evidence that customers already value the offer
Healthy or fixable unit economics
A business where systems, positioning, distribution, or monetization can create meaningful leverage
Integrity and working chemistry
A clear path for aligned upside

How a partnership can look

Every opportunity is different. Depending on the business, a relationship may involve an equity position, profit participation, revenue share, project ownership, capital investment, strategic advisory involvement, or some combination. I do not publish a one-size-fits-all formula because the structure should match the opportunity.

Not a fit

I'm generally not the right fit for businesses looking for passive capital only, early concepts with no evidence of demand, or founders who want advice without being willing to change the way the business operates.
