About Mike Walker
I started building businesses in 1996. Since then I've worked across action sports, apparel, retail, wholesale, ecommerce, consulting, software, client services, media, investing, and more. I've been the founder, the operator, the strategist, the person in front of the room, and the person quietly behind the scenes helping somebody else's vision work better. Every one of those lives cost me years of trial and error. That's exactly what my clients get to skip. I bring the pattern recognition so you don't have to buy it the way I did, and your path to profitability gets a lot shorter.
I started building businesses in 1996 and have worked across a dozen industries as founder, operator, and strategist. Every one of those lives cost me years of trial and error. That's exactly what my clients get to skip.
How do you take an idea and make it real? How do you turn demand into something operationally sustainable? How do you make a business more profitable without making it heavier? How do you build systems without suffocating creativity? How do you create enough leverage that the business supports your life instead of swallowing it? Those are the questions I've spent three decades learning to answer.
1996. Where it started.
Walker Surfboards was my first real entrepreneurial laboratory. What began with a love of surfing, design, and making things grew into apparel, swimwear, retail, wholesale, international distribution, and the thousand small lessons you only learn when customers, inventory, margins, production, marketing, and cash flow all become real at the same time.
I didn't know it then, but those years gave me a foundation I still use today: read conditions, understand timing, protect your downside, move when the opportunity is there, and never confuse motion with momentum.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in the systems underneath growth: positioning, offers, delivery, teams, client experience, profitability, decision-making, and the handoff between a founder's vision and the machinery required to execute it. That evolved into consulting, strategic advisory work, systems architecture, and operating alongside founders across a wide range of service businesses.
The more years I spend in business, the less interested I am in being paid simply for activity. I prefer alignment. I like investing in people and companies, helping improve performance, and participating in the upside we create together. It forces better thinking because the question becomes less "What can I sell?" and more "What can we build that compounds?"
I love business. I love creating. I love surfing. I love travel, ideas, conversations, art, and helping people build things that matter. I don't see a meaningful line between "work" and "life" when both are designed intentionally. I want to be doing this when I'm 80, just with better leverage, better people, better waves, and more capacity to give.
"I'll never retire. Why would I retire from my best life?"
ClientBloom is focused on engineering what happens after the sale for service businesses. BrightLink is the long-term vehicle for investments, ventures, public-sector opportunities, and impact. Walker Surfboards keeps me connected to where the story began. My books, speaking, Toolkit, events, and creative work let me share the ideas that connect all of it.
